That curiosity eventually led him to formal studies in audio engineering at the Institute of Audio Research in New York City and later to a degree in Music Theory, Performance, and Composition from Norwich University.

As founder of Blackdog Recording Studios in Rochester, New York, Robert worked with everyone from aspiring musicians to accomplished performers, producing projects that ranged from classical and jazz recordings to rock, blues, hip-hop, spoken word, and film music. The goal was never merely to record sound. It was to capture intent. What began as audio production expanded into video production, digital communications, archival preservation, and legal support services. Working alongside maritime professionals and in support of proceedings involving the United States Marshals Service and the Department of Justice, he has participated in vessel custody, operational oversight, logistics, inspections, and maritime asset preservation throughout the Gulf Coast, Atlantic seaboard, and Caribbean.
The experience offered a front-row seat to a world few people ever encounter. Commercial shipping, maritime law, vessel operations, crew management, and the peculiar challenges that arise when large floating assets become the subjects of federal litigation all became part of daily life.
Naturally, this led to an even deeper fascination with the sea itself.
Today Robert continues his pursuit of advanced maritime credentials, including United States Coast Guard captain licensing, while building upon his experience as a PADI Rescue Diver and Deep Diver. He is actively advancing toward Divemaster and Instructor certifications, with the long-term goal of combining maritime operations, professional diving, education, and media production throughout the Florida Keys and Caribbean.
Outside his professional work, Robert writes extensively. His essays, reflections, sea stories, and observations draw upon a life spent moving between creative, technical, legal, and maritime worlds.
